Care Instructions - Important

As standard, Crowsfooot Sgian Dubh are made from Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel. As such they are easy to care for and don't need any maintenance or special care.

However, Crowsfoot bushcraft knives and sloyds are made of hardened and tempered O-1 high carbon tool steel. This provides excellent edge retention and good sharpenability and has been the first choice for woodworking tools for decades. However, O-1 will tarnish or even rust unless treated with proper care:

• Always clean and dry the blade before returning it to its sheath.

• Apply a little wax or oil to the blade periodically (any cooking oil is suitable and will not taint or contaminate food).

• When storing your knife for long periods it is best to remove the blade from its sheath, apply a coating of wax or oil and then wrap it in a dry cloth.
